She’s From Shaw was created by Kayla Manji ‘28 and Rachel Pearce ‘28, two students who wanted to create a space for female alumni and students at Shawnigan Lake School to connect, share, and learn. Through stories, highlights, experiences, and mentorship, She’s From Shaw hopes to inspire the new generation.

Kayla Manji
Hi, I’m Kayla, one of the founders of this blog. I created this blog because I believe alumni help shape what Shawnigan is like today. After Shawnigan, there are many different paths people can take, and I wanted to learn more about career journeys and where Shawnigan alumni are now. I’m passionate about journalism and creativity, and I love sharing stories that inspire others through my interests in sports, music, and musical theatre. I also like working with others and learning new skills through writing and interviewing.

Hi, I’m Rachel, and I'm one of the founders of this blog. This blog started from my interest in how women Shawnigan alumni continue to influence our community after they graduate. Everyone’s path after Shawnigan looks different, so I wanted to highlight those journeys and learn where alumni have ended up. I’m interested in connecting my interests with others through writing. I love learning new skills and new stories about alumni and their life at Shawnigan, which makes this blog such a special space.
